MUSIC MARKETING CAMPAIGN
The project consisted on creating a marketing campaign where we needed to launch a new artist to the music industry. This project required us to compile research on the marketing and distribution practices associated with, in our case, genre of alternative rock.
We first needed to do research on a production company, to become familiar with a
company that deals with the marketing of our genre, and what are the practices
associated with it, to be to create a marketing campaign for our own artist.
In our case we chose Fuel By Ramen, which is a well recognize company that
represents many bands and artists that are part of the alternative rock genre.
From this company we did research on two bands/artists to be able to know
about the modern trends in marketing and distribution of their music and products.
After doing the research, we moved on to the planning of the marketing campaign,
where we compiled all the research we did, and developed the brand of our new
artist, we created a realistic way to distribute and market this new artist. We based
our decisions on the research we made. In essence we wanted to market our artist
as someone that is constantly in contact with his fans and has an engaging way to
distribute his brand by making merchandise, and having a blog to keep his fans up
to date with all the new things he’s might be coming up with.
The last thing we did was create a music video of the song, which served to
introduce our artist to the world, which needed to develop the brand we were
striving to create through this artist. We needed to illustrate our extensive knowledge
of production techniques, and the most important thing was to be able to create visual
elements that will keep the audience engage and have an extensive interest on the
artist and brand, so that they stay loyal to it.
  
Research and project choices
As I said before, our research on the different bands like, twenty one pilots and
panic at the disco helped us to become aware of some modern trends in marketing
and distribution regarding this genre. Also we did research on the our audience target,
which helped us know what they are interest in and how we can target them with our
distribution ideas, in this case we chose social media since our target audience was
mainly adolescents and adults in their late twenties, and our research showed that
they spent most of their time in social media, so we decided that it was a good idea
to target them through Instagram since it’s one of the platforms that is the most used
by our target audience.

Marketing creations
Since we chose Instagram as our main distributor, we created an Instagram page
to be able to distribute our artists music and as well as keep our fans up to date with
new things coming up. In addition to this, we created a website that had our artist’s
merchandise, tour dates, and a blog area where he could keep in contact with his
fans. This website had direct link to his Instagram page and also to the links to his
Spotify and iTunes where the fans are able to listen to his music at any time they want.

How would what I learned from this project will impact your work on the portfolio project
What I learned from this project is that is crucial to make a good research
regarding the genre and target audience, since it’s very important to become familiar
with the genre to be able to have a good representation of it on our production.
Also the research on the target audience is very important due to the fact that we are
creating something that will be successful if the audience consumes our products,
but if they aren’t satisfied, there is not way that our product will be successful, so like
I said before knowing how our audience acts, and all they are interested in it's crucial
to be able to know the right way to target them.
