STUCK IN LOVE <3
While doing a research on romantic/comedy film openings, I decided to choose one of my
favorite movies, Stuck in Love. The opening scene of this film introduces the four main
characters of the film, one by one, which allows the audience have snippets of their life,
which helps to build up the story. I also noticed that every time that one of the characters
is introduced the music in the background changed to be able to suit everyone and each
of the situations that each characters are going through, which sets the mood for the
audience, and also it reflects a little more about each character.
At the end of the opening scene, it shows the title, which is a simple regarding the font
and color, but in bold. Even though the title does not make a huge impression it reflects
what the movie is about, the font has a typewriter style and it’s white with a black
background due to the fact that film is about writing and books.

The introduction of the main characters of the movie that Josh Boone decided to make
was a very clever way to introduce the characters in an engaging way and letting the
audience know a little bit about each of them. I would like to use this technique of
introducing characters, to allow audience to become interest with them and make them
wonder what could happen with them throughout the film, since we would be showing
snippets of their life. Also the change of the background music makes the scene opening
engaging which it allows grabs the audience’s attention, and interest for the characters,
and I would like to incorporate that too.
Also the editing on the scene is very simple, it only includes simple jump cuts throughout
the sequence, which makes the audience feel more comfortable and part of the film,
which makes them want to watch more of it, and that it’s very important to make a
successful film opening.

Boone made sure to create intrigue in the audience with this opening scene since it
presents and light and charming start, but throughout the film it, the audience starts
realizing how unexpected and complex is underneath, and this is a great technique
to keep the audience hooked with the film; and also is very important for me to keep
this in mind because I want to make sure to keep my audience hooked the
entire time.
